John Ferraro Building - Los Angeles DWP

Scope of Work: Roof, Reflecting Pool, & Granite Podium Renovation: 

Complete removal of existing BUR roof assembly, reflecting pool-coal-tar waterproofing system, pre-cast concrete pool edging, and podium deck granite pavers (4’ x 4’ x 3”) and between slab coal-tar pitch waterproofing system. 

Roof Area;     

• Main roof 15 story high rise 49,700 SF BUR replacement with new Tremco insulated TPA single-ply fully adhered system.
• Heliport, 8,100 SF Elastomeric coating removal and replacement.

Reflecting Pool Area:

• Reflecting pool 136,700 SF: removal of existing coal-tar pitch waterproofing system. Install new Tremco TPA Black Hypalon membrane over new insulation board, fully adhered.
• Pre-cast concrete edging: removal and replacement of

Podium Deck:

• Main Podium; 44,200 SF and Pedestrian Bridge, 5,600 SF: Removal of existing 4’x4’x3”granite pavers and coal-tar waterproofing system. Installation of new Tremco TPA fully adhered single-ply assembly and reinstall over 3,200 existing 4’x’4x3” granite pavers set in mortar bed.

 All work performed during regular business hours over the fully occupied facility. Safety, coordination, and sequencing of the construction activities with the LADWP were paramount during the construction process so that there were no interruptions of the daily business activities for the thousands of employees and customers.
